Case Studies C01 | Cabinet Lock

October 2008 a new home was built in Auckalnd, New Zealand for a young family. High on the priority list was securing the kitchen cabinets from an inquisitve child. The YC10 system was chosen as it met all the requirements of the new owner.

Proposed by the kitchen manufacturer and sourced directly from Magna, eighteen locks were installed into the kitchen. Two Starter packs were used as there were two distinctly separate areas of the kitchen that required locking. Backup batteries were added to both areas to allow access even in the event of a power failure.

New Zealand is world renowned for the manufacture of top quality Super yachts. Four percent of the worldwide Super yacht market is manufactured in New Zealand which ranks it sixth in the world for Super yacht production.

In August 2009 an Auckland based factory needed locks for their latest Super Yacht. Sourced through Magna’s local distributor Hafele New Zealand, YC20 locks were chosen as the preferred locking method. More than 40 locks were installed throughout the Super Yacht offering the boat designers and builders some key benefits.

With access control finding its way out of commercial and into residential installations, the YNOTLOC – Door products offer users a range of secure solutions. When the owner of this home commissioned a unique copper door to be made as the main entrance point, a suitable lock needed to be found. Two YD25 fail secure locks were chosen and mortises were cut into the door frame for the locks to be installed. Corresponding mortises were cut in the door to fit the strike plates ensuring no locking hardware could be seen when the door was closed and the look of the door was not compromised. The locks were powered by a battery backup power supply and connected to a weather proof keypad so the owner no longer needed to carry keys.
